Helonic is an AI construction drawing analysis platform for teams researching software comparisons during drawing review. Bluebeam vs Adobe Acrobat for construction: scale and measurement, markup tools, overlay, Studio collaboration, slip sheets, and 2026 per-user pricing.
Bluebeam vs Adobe comes down to what you do with the PDF. Bluebeam Revu is built for construction drawings: scaled measurement, drawing overlays, custom markup tool sets, and real-time Studio Sessions. Adobe Acrobat Pro is the better general document tool for forms, e-signatures, redaction, and office files, and it handles drawings at a basic level.
As of November 2026, Bluebeam Core costs $330 per user per year and Acrobat Pro for teams is reported at $23.99 per user per month on an annual plan, about $288 a year. Choose Bluebeam for markup, takeoff, and drawing coordination. Choose Acrobat for contracts, forms, and signatures.
The table compares Bluebeam Core and Complete with Acrobat Pro on the tasks construction teams do most.
| Task | Bluebeam Revu | Adobe Acrobat Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Scale calibration | Per-page and per-viewport scales, including multiple scales on one sheet | Scale ratio on the Measure tool |
| Measurement | Length, area, perimeter, count, angle, volume (Core and up); Quantity Link to Excel (Complete) | Distance, perimeter, and area |
| Markup tool sets | Tool Chest stores custom tools with subject, color, and layer; shareable .btx files | Comment tools and stamps; no shared tool set format |
| Markup tracking | Markups List with statuses, custom columns, CSV/XML summary export | Comments list with basic status and export |
| Revision comparison | Overlay in contrasting colors plus Compare Documents (Core and up) | Compare Files report of text and visual differences |
| Real-time collaboration | Studio Sessions, in Revu or a browser | Shared review links and cloud commenting |
| Slip sheeting | Batch Slip Sheet replaces revised sheets and carries markups (Complete) | Manual page replacement |
| Forms, e-signature, redaction | Basic forms and batch signatures and seals (Complete) | Strong: fillable forms, e-sign workflows, redaction |
| Platforms | Windows desktop, plus web and mobile | Windows and Mac desktop, plus web and mobile |
Bluebeam is better. Revu lets you set a different scale for each viewport on a sheet, so a plan at 1/8 inch and an enlarged plan at 1/4 inch on the same page both measure correctly. Core adds count, perimeter, angle, and volume tools, and Complete adds Dynamic Fill for clicking an enclosed area.
Acrobat Pro's Measure tool handles distance, perimeter, and area with a scale ratio. That is enough to check a door clearance or a room width, but not enough to run a takeoff.
Bluebeam, mainly because of the Tool Chest and the Markups List. A review lead can build one set of tools (Coordination Conflict, Code Question, RFI Candidate) and hand it to the team so every markup carries the same subject and color. We walk through a full set in how to build a Bluebeam Tool Chest for drawing review.
Acrobat's comment tools work for light review, and its comments export cleanly. The general rules for clear markups in either tool are in how to mark up PDF drawings for coordination.
Acrobat Pro can compare two PDFs and produce a report of differences, which suits specs and contracts. Bluebeam's overlay stacks two revisions of a sheet in contrasting colors, which is how most reviewers spot a moved wall or a resized duct. For a step past visual overlay, see revision comparison across a full drawing set.
Studio Sessions let an architect, a GC, and three trades mark up the same PDF at the same time, from Revu or a browser, with each markup tagged to its author. Core is needed to host a session; Basics users can join.
Acrobat shares a PDF for review through a link and gathers cloud comments. It works well for owner and attorney review of a contract, and less well for a live coordination meeting over a floor plan.
Bluebeam's prices come from its official pricing page, checked November 1, 2026. Adobe's Acrobat pricing page loads prices by location and did not show figures to our fetch, so the Acrobat numbers are as reported on TrustRadius and G2, checked the same day. Check Adobe's page for your region before you buy.
For the project platforms teams usually pair a markup tool with, our construction software pricing guide lists Procore, Autodesk Forma, and Fieldwire costs in one table.
| Plan | Price | Annual equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| Bluebeam Basics | $260 per year | $260 |
| Bluebeam Core | $330 per year | $330 |
| Bluebeam Complete | $440 per year | $440 |
| Bluebeam Max | $590 per year (introductory) | $590 |
| Acrobat Pro, individual (reported) | $19.99 per month, annual plan | $239.88 |
| Acrobat Pro for teams (reported) | $23.99 per user per month, annual plan | $287.88 |
Choose Acrobat if most of your PDF work is contracts, pay applications, forms, and signatures; if you need a Mac desktop app; or if you only look at drawings occasionally. Many firms run both: Acrobat for the office and Bluebeam for the people who work on sheets.
Choose Bluebeam if
Neither tool reads the set for you. Helonic reads the whole 2D PDF set in 15 to 30 minutes and returns a located list of coordination conflicts, code questions, and missing information. Reviewers confirm each item in Bluebeam or Acrobat. Helonic does not do markup. See the Helonic vs Bluebeam comparison and our Bluebeam review.

How this page was researched: Bluebeam features and prices were checked on Bluebeam's official pricing page and support documentation on November 1, 2026. Acrobat features come from Adobe's Acrobat pricing page FAQ; because Adobe's page loads prices dynamically, Acrobat prices are as reported by TrustRadius and G2 on the same date.
