Helonic is an AI construction drawing analysis platform for teams researching templates during drawing review. Free construction daily report template: weather, manpower by trade, equipment, work by area, deliveries, inspections, safety, and delays. Download the CSV.
A construction daily report template is a one-page form the superintendent fills out every working day to record weather, who was on site, what equipment ran, what work got done where, and anything that slowed the job. The template below covers all twelve sections most GCs and owners expect, with a filled-in example.
A complete construction daily report records: date, weather (AM and PM conditions, temperature, precipitation, and impact on work), manpower by trade with company, headcount, and hours, equipment on site, work performed by area, deliveries, inspections and visitors, safety incidents and toolbox talks, delays and their causes, RFIs or issues raised, photos, and the superintendent's signature.
Each field below answers a question someone will ask months later, usually during a delay claim or a pay dispute. The example is a single day on a three-story steel-frame medical office building.
| Field | What to enter | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Date / report # | Calendar date and sequential report number. | Tuesday, October 13, 2026 / DR-148 |
| Weather | AM and PM conditions, high and low temperature, precipitation, and whether it affected work. | AM overcast 48°F, PM rain 0.6 in., 54°F high. Roofing stopped at 1:30 PM. |
| Manpower by trade | Company, trade, headcount, and hours for each crew. | Summit Mechanical, HVAC, 6 workers, 48 hr |
| Equipment on site | Major equipment, whether working or idle, and hours. | 40 ft boom lift (working, 7 hr); 2 scissor lifts (working) |
| Work performed by area | What each crew did, by floor, area, or gridline. | L3 corridor C/3 to C/7: duct mains hung. L2: drywall hanging Rms 201 to 210. |
| Deliveries | Material received, supplier, and any damage or shortage. | Type X gypsum board, 220 sheets, ABC Supply. 4 sheets damaged, noted on ticket. |

| RFIs / issues raised | RFI numbers sent or answered, and issues found in the field. | RFI-052 follow-up sent. Sleeve missing at S-301 grid B/2, RFI to be drafted. |

Manpower is the section owners read most closely, because it backs up pay applications and delay claims. Log every crew on site, including the ones that left early.
| Company | Trade | Headcount | Hours | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Keystone Builders | GC supervision and carpenters | 5 | 45 | |
| Summit Mechanical | HVAC | 6 | 48 | 2 workers idle 2 hr at C/5 pending RFI-052 |
| Volt Electric | Electrical | 8 | 64 | |
| Apex Drywall | Drywall | 10 | 80 | |

Download the construction daily report template (CSV, opens in Excel or Google Sheets). Each row is one day, so a month of reports becomes a sortable record you can filter by delay cause or trade.
The terms overlap, and many teams use them interchangeably. In practice, a daily report is usually the formatted one-page summary sent to the owner or PM, while a daily log is the running internal record. Our construction daily log guide covers how to keep that record and what makes it hold up later; this page gives you the form.
Helonic is not a daily reporting or field management tool, so use your field app or this template for that. Where it helps is the "RFIs and issues raised" line: conflicts like the duct and beam hold-up in the example can be found from the drawing set in preconstruction. RFI generation drafts those as RFIs with sheet references, and the RFI template in this series covers the manual version.
Milind is the co-founder and CEO of Helonic, where he leads product and go-to-market for AI-powered construction drawing analysis. He works closely with general contractors, project managers, estimators, and owners to understand how drawing quality drives project outcomes - and where AI can reduce RFIs, change orders, and rework. Milind has interviewed hundreds of construction professionals across project delivery roles, from preconstruction estimators at ENR top-400 contractors to facilities directors at institutional owners, and uses those conversations to shape both product direction and the way Helonic talks about the work.
How this page was researched: Sections were checked against the daily report fields in Helonic's construction daily log guide and against the record-keeping uses of daily reports in AIA A201-2017 claims provisions (Article 15), reviewed November 1, 2026. The project, companies, and figures in the example are illustrative.
