Leadership Wants One Platform. Where Does AI Review Fit?

Published November 1, 2026•4 min read

Helonic is an AI construction drawing analysis platform for general contractors whose leadership has standardized on Procore or Autodesk and does not want another login. Leadership spent years getting every job onto one platform. A request for AI drawing review sounds like the start of tool sprawl, so the answer is often no before anyone asks what the tool would do.

Direct answer. Keep the record in Procore or Autodesk: drawings, RFIs, submittals, and issues. Helonic and other AI drawing review tools own one job the platform does not do on its own, reading the whole set for conflicts before bid or issue, and they send confirmed findings back into the platform. Only the reviewers need the extra login.

Which jobs stay in Procore or Autodesk?

JobWhere it livesWhy
Drawings of record and current revisionsProcore or AutodeskEveryone on the job already opens them there.
RFI log and responsesProcore or AutodeskThe contract trail has to sit in one place.
Submittals and the submittal registerProcore or AutodeskTied to spec sections and approvals already tracked there.
Issues, punch, and field observationsProcore or AutodeskField teams work from mobile apps on the platform.
Reading the full set for conflicts before bid or issueDrawing review toolThe platform stores sheets but does not compare every sheet against every other one.
Sorting raw findings into keep or dismissDrawing review tool, one or two reviewersRaw findings should not reach the job log.

Four of the six jobs never move. The review tool takes the two that happen before anything is worth logging.

What about the platform's own AI features?

Check what they do on your set before deciding. Platform assistants mostly help people search, summarize, and draft inside the platform. A conflict check reads every sheet against every other sheet and the specs. What Procore's tools cover is in Procore Copilot and AI agents for drawing review, and the markup side is in what Bluebeam Max Smart Review catches.

How many people need the extra login?

One or two. The reviewer who keeps or dismisses findings works in the review screen because that is where each finding opens on the sheet. The PM, superintendent, and trades see only confirmed findings, as RFIs or issues in the platform they already use. The fields those records need are in what has to land in Procore or Autodesk.

What should leadership ask before approving it?

  1. Does it pull drawings from the platform, so nobody downloads and re-uploads sets?
  2. Does it write confirmed findings back as RFIs or issues?
  3. Who besides the reviewers would need a seat?
  4. Does it hold any record the platform does not?
  5. If we turn it off next year, what do we lose?

The right answer to the last question is "nothing in the record." Put these answers on the one-page vendor summary for leadership, and judge the tool itself against what to look for in an AI construction drawing review platform.

Where does Helonic fit in a one-platform company?

Helonic pulls drawing sets from Procore or Autodesk, reviews the full set, and sends findings a reviewer confirms back as RFIs through the Procore integration and the Autodesk integration. Nothing goes to the platform until a person confirms it. To test this before a company decision, use how to pilot AI drawing review software.

Practitioner insight

“Our CIO's rule was simple. If my PMs have to log into it, the answer is no. Two reviewers log in, everybody else sees RFIs in Procore, and that got it approved.”

Conversations with operations and technology leaders at general contractors standardized on a single project management platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we do AI drawing review inside Procore or Autodesk?
The record stays there: drawings of record, RFIs, submittals, and issues. A full-set conflict check is a separate job that a drawing review tool runs, and its confirmed findings should come back into Procore or Autodesk.
How many people need a login to the review tool?
Usually one or two reviewers who sort findings. Project managers, superintendents, and trades should only see confirmed findings inside the project platform.
Does a drawing review tool create a second system of record?
It should not. Drawings come in from the platform and confirmed findings go back to it. If the tool were turned off, the RFIs and issues it created would still be in Procore or Autodesk.
What should leadership ask before approving another tool?
Whether it reads drawings from the platform, writes confirmed findings back, needs seats beyond the reviewers, keeps any record the platform does not, and can be turned off without losing project history.
