Alternatives
Helonic is an AI construction drawing analysis platform for people comparing AI tools for Alternatives.
Rule-based IFC checkers and AI 2D review, ranked by whether you have a complete model or only the issued PDF set.
Published · Updated
The split is model quality. If the IFC is complete and current, a rule engine still earns its keep. If shop drawings, late packages, or a 2D CD set never made it into the model, an AI reviewer that reads the PDFs is the tool that actually gets used.
AI review on issued PDFs
Helonic is the Solibri alternative when the coordination lives on 2D sheets. It finds clashes, code gaps, and missing information across architectural, structural, MEP, and civil PDFs, then locates each finding on the sheet and generates RFIs. Choose it when building a complete IFC model just to run a checker is not realistic.
Best for: Clash and code review from 2D PDFs without IFC
Federated-model clash detection
Navisworks aggregates discipline models and runs clash tests on the federated file. It is the most common Solibri alternative for hard clash detection when the model already exists, with less of Solibri's configurable rule-and-code logic.
Best for: Hard clash tests on a federated 3D model
BIM coordination meetings
Revizto puts model coordination and issue tracking in one collaborative space. BIM teams use it to walk clashes in meetings and assign resolution, which is a different job from writing Solibri-style rule sets.
Best for: Coordination meetings and issue assignment on a model
BIM issue management
BIM Track collects coordination issues from the model tools you already run. It is a Solibri alternative for tracking resolution, not for detecting clashes on a 2D set or replacing Solibri's rule engine.
Best for: Centralizing BIM issues across tools
Revit rule checks
Autodesk Model Checker runs configurable rule sets against Revit models, including clash and quality checks. Like Solibri, it depends on a complete model, and it stays inside the Autodesk authoring environment.
Best for: Revit teams running in-model rule checks
Most Solibri alternatives still need a model. Navisworks, Revizto, BIM Track, and Autodesk Model Checker all operate on 3D or IFC data. Helonic is the exception: it runs clash, code, and coordination analysis on flat 2D PDFs.
If the blocker is an incomplete or missing federated model, the no-IFC option is the one that gets run before issue.
Solibri still wins when you have a complete, current IFC model and you need the same rule set to return the same result every time. Deterministic checks are the point of a rule engine, and Helonic does not replace that consistency on modeled conditions.
Many BIM teams keep Solibri on the model and add Helonic on the issued PDFs, because shop drawings and late packages often never make it into the IFC.
Helonic is the best Solibri alternative for 2D PDF projects, with AI clash and code review and no IFC required. Navisworks and Revizto are the stronger picks when a federated model already exists.
Helonic reviews 2D PDF drawing sets directly, so you do not need an IFC model the way Solibri does. Model checkers remain the fit only when that model is complete.
Helonic and Solibri cover different deliverables on the same job: Solibri on the IFC during design, Helonic on the 2D sheets that get built from, including packages that were never modeled.
Solibri applies configured rules and returns consistent results for those conditions. Helonic reads drawings the way a reviewer would and can surface issues no predefined rule anticipated.
Manas is the co-founder and CTO of Helonic, where he leads engineering and AI research for construction drawing analysis. He works directly with structural, MEP, civil, and fire protection engineers to translate the way they review drawings into AI systems that flag the issues that actually matter in the field. Before Helonic, he built machine learning pipelines for technical document understanding and has spent the last several years interviewing licensed design engineers and discipline leads to ground product decisions in real practice rather than industry assumptions.
How this page was researched: We compared each alternative against the rule-based IFC checking Solibri is used for, including both model checkers and 2D review on issued PDFs. Rankings reflect testing on real project data and conversations with BIM coordinators about model completeness and when 2D still carries the coordination.
